Nancy Pelosi calls out ‘lawlessness’ after smash

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi  on Wednesday finally denounced her hometown San Francisco’s rampant smash and grab looting as ‘absolutely outrageous’.
But she stopped short of endorsing Mayor Breed’s plan to increase policing and review zero bail policies
Pelosi called out what she termed an ‘attitude of lawlessness’ in the country as mobs of robbers have targeted luxury boutiques and major retailers San Francisco and cities across the US.
Pelosi commented on the ‘outrageous’ robberies, some of which were planned through online messaging apps according to law enforcement – and pointed to legislation being developed in the House to improve tracking of online sales, where stolen goods get pedaled.
She was asked to comment after San Francisco Mayor London  Breed announced a crackdown in the city.
Breed demanded people to be ‘less tolerant of all the bull***t that has destroyed our city.’
Pelosi said: ‘It’s absolutely outrageous. Obviously, it cannot continue.
‘But the fact is that there is an attitude of lawlessness in our country that springs from I don’t know where.’
‘It’s absolutely outrageous.’ House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced smash-and-grab robberies, and said there was ‘lawlessness’ in the country
‘And we cannot have that lawlessness become the norm. And these people have – they coordinate with each other. And they plan traffic patterns and the rest, so that they can reach their goal and depart very quickly,’ she added.
‘And some of it is, again, high-level stores as the retailers have told us and some of it is your local Walgreens. But none of it is acceptable. And again, it has to be stopped,’ she vowed.
She touted a bipartisan bill at the House Energy and Commerce Committee, the  Integrity, Notification, and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces for Consumers Act.
It directs online platforms to collect information on large third-party sellers, including their government ID, bank account, and tax ID information, while providing information for consumers to verify.
‘Because what people do is they steal things and sell them online,’ said Pelosi. ‘They have to establish their legitimacy if they’re going to be sold online.’
She also pointed to a Judiciary Committee bill to ‘incentivize’ online platforms to weed out sellers of counterfeit products.
Pelosi sought to contrast the organized robberies with other types of theft.
‘And again, showing that people are not able to profit from that. It isn’t like punish somebody stealing something to go home because they don’t have the money to buy. This is about stealing for profit. They have to prove where it came from. It’s outrageous. And it must, I agree with the mayor, it must be stopped,’ she said.
‘It’s not just San Francisco. It’s an it’s an our entire country. And that’s evidenced by the appeals that we are receiving from across the country for the legislation,’ Pelosi said.
‘It’s time the reign of criminals who are destroying our city, it is time for it to come to an end,’ she fumed. Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Chaos Black/University Red Mens Size ‘And it comes to an end when we take the steps to more aggressive with law enforcement. More aggressive with the changes in our policies and less tolerate of all the bulls*** that has destroyed our city.’
‘In recent months we’ve not only seen a number of high-profile incidents of brazen robberies and car break-ins but also street behavior and criminal activity especially in the Tenderloin that has become far too normal and cannot continue to be tolerated,’ she said, San Francisco’s CBS affiliate reported.
‘All of our residents, our workers and everyone who visits our city should feel safe no matter what part of town they are in. I know San Francisco is a compassionate city. But we’re not a city where anything goes. Our compassion should not be mistaken for weakness or indifference.’
‘This isn’t ‘The Godfather’ by any stretch,’ said San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe Monday, of the string of ‘smash and grab’ robberies plaguing the Southern California community in recent months, amid increased crime spurred by the pandemic and lax burglary laws implemented by the state.
‘It’s the modern version of ‘Hey, there’s a party tonight’ and suddenly you have 100 kids showing up.’
Amid the rash of looting, some are pointing to the city’s DA Chesa Boudin and a 2014 state law making theft of less than $950 a misdemeanor crime. Protesters have gone after Boudin as the city’s crime rate spiked over the previous year. He, too, has vowed to crack down on the looters.
Wagstaffe is one of several San Francisco prosecutors tasked with  tackling the daunting task of quelling organized retail theft, as part of a newly formed coalition of prosecutors investigating the incidents.
The task force, comprised of several Bay Area attorneys, further revealed that robbers used  Snapchat and other social-media apps and messaging services to coordinate their heists.
The tactics used by the perpetrators, which police concede is something that they have never seen before, make catching or identifying the suspects increasingly difficult.
A suspect was seen running away with an armful of merchandise after stealing from a Louis Vuitton store in San Francisco’s Union Square on November 19. Five arrests have since been made
Footage from the aftermath shows the glass door was shattered in the incident, and the shelves were completely empty
What’s more, police reveal, when suspects are apprehended in regards to the attacks – which in some cases see 90 suspects convene on one location – they often do not have names or information about others who were present.
A spokesperson for Snap Inc., the company that oversees multimedia messaging app Snapchat, said in a statement Monday to The Wall Street Journal  that her team has looked into the issue raised by San Francisco police regarding the robberies, and asserted that they have yet to find any evidence suggesting such activity on the app.
Officers have already made a string of arrests in relation to the late-November attacks, which police previously posited were related.
Three arrests have been made in connection with the coordinated attack on a Nordstrom Inc. store in the wealthy Bay Area suburb of Walnut Creek, California, on November 20.
An estimated 90 people overran the posh boutique and made off with more than $100,000 of merchandise before escaping in 25 separate cars that had their license plates removed or covered, prosecutors said.
An estimated 90 people overran a Nordstrom Inc. store in the wealthy Bay Area suburb of Walnut Creek, California, on November 20 and made off with more than $100,000 of merchandise, escaping in cars that had their license plates removed or covered
According to officers and witnesses on the scene, several of the suspects donned ski masks and crowbars during the store attack in the San Francisco suburb.
Suspects also assaulted employees while fleeing the scene, with  one hit with pepper spray during what police called a ‘clearly a planned event.’ Walnut Creek police said they arrested two suspects and recovered a gun.
Five others have also been arrested in relation to a similar strike on a San Francisco store the day prior, which saw somewhere between 20 and 40 people storm a Louis Vuitton in the the city’s Union Square and make off with thousands of dollars of products.
Meanwhile, police across the county in Minneapolis, where a roving group of thieves targeted three separate Best Buy stores on November 26, have revealed that they have identified several suspects in the startling strikes, but have yet to make any arrests.
Law-enforcement officials told the Journal Monday that all the suspects arrested used social media to help coordinate the attacks, with many favoring the popular app Snapchat, which automatically deletes users’ messages once they are sent, delivered, Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Low Bred Black/Gym Red-Black On Sale and opened – which police say may entice prospective offenders.
The sources further divulged to the outlet that the groups, commonly known as ‘flash mobs’ in reference to the size of such groups and the duration of their attacks, come together to commit the thefts after one organizer posts a target and a time on the app.
A map shows the locations of some of the major smash-and-grab robberies that have recently taken place in Southern California
The officials declined to provide the specificities as to how suspects come to find such posts online, which may be hidden in private groups on various social media apps, including Snapchat.
Investigators believe that the recent spate of burglaries in the Bay Area were timed around the verdict in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, the Illinois teen who was acquitted on November 19 of killing two people during riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, last year.
Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Chaos Black/University Red Mens Size
Police say that suspects planned the thefts at that time because they likely discerned that law-enforcement officials would be distracted by prospective backlash over the verdict.
With that said, after Rittenhouse’s verdict, the Bay Area saw a relentless string of audacious ‘smash-and-grab’ robberies, including an incident involving a gaggle of hammer-wielding masked bandits who ransacked jewelry, sunglasses and clothing stores at the Southland Mall in the San Jose suburb of Hayward on November 21.
That same evening, packs of thieves ransacked a sunglasses store and a Lululemon store in San Jose, stealing nearly $50,000 in merchandise.
Nancy Pelosi calls out 'lawlessness' after smash
That week, there was also a string of attacks on San Francisco stores in the city’s downtown area and in Union Square, including the Louis Vuitton, as well as a Burberry and Bloomingdale’s.
Another incident, on November 19, saw roving bands of thieves brandishing hammers and crowbars hit a string of high-end retailers, including Louis Vuitton, Burberry and Bloomingdales, as well as a Walgreens pharmacy and several marijuana dispensaries, in the vicinity of Union Square in San Francisco, a high-end area popular with tourist that was crowded with holiday shoppers.
Many blame the influx of incidents on the voter-approved measure Proposition 47 – passed by California voters on November 5, 2014 – which reclassified felony thefts cases under $950 to misdemeanors.
However, the bill does spell out more severe consequences for groups of two or more people who conspire the commit such crimes – which would spell trouble for suspects currently being apprehended in relation to the large-scale, coordinated strikes.
The policy states that  if two or more person’s conspire to ‘cheat and defraud any person or any property, by any means which are in themselves criminal’ they can face a year in county prison, a fine of $10,000, or a combination of the two.
The three suspects arrested in connection with the Walnut Creek Nordstrom robbery have been charged with several crimes, including second-degree robbery, a felony that warrants a sentence of up to five years, and organized retail theft, which can be viewed as either a felony or a misdemeanor depending on the circumstances surrounding the case.
The suspects have yet to entered pleas, police say, and a spokesman for the Contra Costa County public defender’s office further revealed that none of the alleged miscreants have been assigned legal representation.

The five suspects in San Francisco’s Union Square Louis Vuitton heist, meanwhile, have been charged with multiple felonies, including looting during a state of emergency and grand theft.
Richard Shikman, an attorney for one of the suspects in the Louis Vuitton case, 28-year-old Kimberly Cherry, declined to comment on the charges leveled against his client when asked by the the Journal, asserting that he does not  believe the 20 to 40 suspects were part of a tightknit group.
‘This isn’t like an organized thing where everyone knows each other,’ Shikman told the paper Monday.
The attorney added that he was not aware about the reported use of social media to help plan the robberies.
All five have entered not-guilty pleas in relation to the November 19 attack.
The development in the investigations into the recent spate of smash and grab incidents comes as reports of larceny theft – shoplifting from a person or business – are up nearly 17 percent to more than 28,000 from the same time last year.

Nancy Pelosi is left flustered after protester shouted ‘Let’s go Brandon! USA!

Nancy Pelosi was interrupted during an infrastructure event in San Francisco on Monday afternoon after a protestor shouted ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ in the middle of her speech.
Pelosi, 81, was speaking on behalf of President Joe Biden ‘s Build Back Better bill in attempt to help improve the safety of San Francisco streets.
During her speech, the California representative was interrupted by an unidentified male protestor who shouted ‘Let’s Go Brandon!’ and ‘USA! USA!’ as he passed by.
The Democratic Speaker of the House was left flustered by the sudden interruption as she stood at the podium stammering on her words.
She then handed the stand over to Rep. Mark DeSaulnier who jokingly remarked ‘I hope he’s not one of my constituents.’

The phrase ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ has been used as an alternative for ‘F**k Joe Biden!’ by his critics
The chant came about last month as NASCAR fans screamed ‘F**k Joe Biden!’ in unison as the winner of  Alabama ‘s Talladega Superspeedway race gave an interview about his victory.
The profane chant insulting  Joe Biden  broke out after Brandon Brown received his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race victory.
Shortly after Brown gave his post-race interview, telling a reporter his victory was a ‘dream come true,’ crowds in the stands began to chant loudly: ‘F**k Joe Biden.’
NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast, who was conducting the interview, recognized the chants but instead claimed fans were shouting ‘Let’s go Brandon!’ in an apparent bid to spare viewers’ blushes.
Brown says that initially he didn’t hear the chant or even realize his name had become a meme.
Since then, the chants have spread to college and professional sporting events with the euphemism embraced by trolling conservatives. Governor Ron DeSantis’ PAC is even selling t-shirts with the phrase printed upon it.
The phrase has become a rallying cry for Biden’s critics, and ‘Let’s go Brandon’ is now conservative code for the original vulgar chant.
The meme also worked its way into the mainstream beyond political figures as well.
Southwest Airlines is investigating one of its pilots who said ‘Let’s go Brandon’ over his intercom upon landing the plane.
He was apparently seen on a TikTok video telling passengers ‘Let’s go Brandon’ at the end of the flight from Texas to New Mexico.

Brown has said that he wants the phrase to be something positive and ‘productive’ such as ‘Let’s Go, America!’ He has refused to be drawn on his personal views on Trump and Biden, and says he fears being so closely-linked to a heavily-partisan chant could harm his career prospects.
‘I don’t want it to just be the substitute for a cuss-word. I mean, if it’s making it more polite, then, by God, I guess, go ahead,’ he said.
‘This whole Talladega race win was supposed to be a celebration, and then it was supposed to be something that I was able to use to move up, and I really wanted to capitalize on that, but with this meme going viral, it was more of, I had to stay more silent, because everybody wanted it to go on to the political side. I’m about the racing side.
‘The issue is, I don’t know enough about politics to really form a true opinion, so I really focus on racing,’ Brown added.
A profane chant mocking Joe Biden broke out at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway after Brandon Brown received his first NASCAR Xfinity Series race victory.
Shortly after Brown gave his post-Xfinity Series race interview, telling a reporter his victory was a ‘dream come true,’ crowds in the stands began to loudly shout in unison, ‘F**k Joe Biden.’
NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast, who was conducting the interview, claimed fans were shouting ‘Let’s go Brandon!’

NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast, who was conducting the interview, recognized the chants and claimed fans were shouting ‘Let’s go Brandon!’
NASCAR originally posted a video of the interview on Twitter, including the chant, but later deleted the post.

‘Dad, we did it, let’s go!’ Brown yelled into the camera during the interview.
Similar chants mocking  Joe Biden  broke out at college football games for a second straight week in stadiums across Southern states.
They came as the president’s approval ratings dipped following the chaotic evacuation from Afghanistan and his controversial vaccine mandate for federal workers.

The F*** Joe Biden shouts echoed throughout stadiums during games played by Coastal Carolina, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Alabama State, Mississippi State, North Carolina State and Texas A&M.
Twitter users pointed out that the protest chant – with the simple lyrics ‘f*** Joe Biden’ sung between claps – are mostly from colleges in states that Donald Trump won in the 2020 election.

Donald Trump Jr . attributed the derogatory protest on everything from Biden’s chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal to the new vaccine rules and rising inflation as the economy recovers from COVID-19 shutdowns.
‘Honestly, it’s gotten so bad that the media can’t run cover for him anymore,’ Trump Jr. told David Hookstead of the Daily Caller last month.
Video posted by  Old Row Sports  shows fans of Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., laughing in the stands as the ‘f*** Joe Biden’ chants break out.

The chants broke out the weekends of September 4 and September 11 at various games
In one video, the chanting interrupted a panel of commentators recording at a studio above a stadium.
The chants were heard at a Coastal Carolina game against the Citadel on September 2 and at a Texas A&M game against Kent State on September 4.
They were heard again on at games between Mississippi State and North Carolina State and Auburn and Alabama State.
The chant has even spread to professional sports, uniting Yankees and Mets fans after a game in New York on Saturday. Video from that day shows fans of both teams singing the words as they leave Citi Field in Queens.

On April 29, 1992, Los Angeles had erupted into chaos. Over the following days, thousands of people took to the streets. Some were unleashing their anger at the police and the justice system. Some were driven by frustration at living in poverty in one of the world’s richest cities. And some just saw a chance to plunder while law enforcement was scrambling. This is what happened next.

Jordan Brand Officially Unveils Russell Westbrook’s First Signature Sneaker The Jordan Why Not Zer0.1

Detailed Images of the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 ‘2

Russell Westbrook finally has a signature shoe and it seems like people are eagerly awaiting the release of the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1.
Featuring full-length Zoom Air and retailing for $125 , the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 might be the most anticipated on-court model from Jordan Brand of the year.
Possibly drawing inspiration from the past, the design of the Zer0.1 looks like it was pulled straight from the year 2000. A mesh internal bootie with synthetic overlays heat-welded onto the build is modern, but the giant heel counter comprised of foam takes us back to the Air Jordan 15.
We’ve been told that the shoe is hard to get on, which we figured, but it’s also super comfortable once on. Not that anyone needed to be any more excited than they already might be, but that news made me a little more giddy.
On a scale of 1-10, how excited are you to try out Russell Westbrook’s Why Not Zer0.1? Let us know.
traction looks awful, but besides that the shoe looks great nice retro 18-22 feel
I hope these are dope performers, cause my favorite player getting a sig = day one cop
A 9 until I know how they fit. I’m trying to get the Mirror Image colorway, but I don’t know which size to purchase.
they really remind me of westbrook for some reason. nothing to do with him getting a sig. cant seem to put a finger on it
A 9, because of ventilation and fit doubts, but these are sexy
Intriguing. Looking forward to the performance review. I really don’t like straps, so I’d consider cutting the ankle strap if the shoes perform well without them.
These are so fire to me, not sure if it’s the color blocking or just the fact they’re Russ’ but so long as the fit/lockdown is good I see myself grabbing multiples of these. Traction, cushion and aesthetics are so on point.
10… Really looking forward to checking how the full zoom is on these. And will probably never be able to get over the $125 tag. . Full. Zoom. Insane
I’m very excited. I haven’t bought a new hoop shoe since the Adidas CE 2017 but I’m ready to move on back to zoom. I’d have to say my anticipation is a 9 out of 10. They look stable and incredibly durable, I want to put some real hours in on these.
Traction looks like a winner to me from the released images. And watching Russ play in them, he didn’t seem to be slipping out or compensating. They seem to be nubs like the cilia traction on the Rose 1/1.5s. 125 for full length zoom AND good traction…SOLD!!!
I’m just waiting for someone to get on youtube and remove that shroud so we can see what they might hoop like without it like the Kobe XI ALT or the Harden Vol. 1 without the toe cap.
depending how they look in person, I just might consider them. if they look cheapish, I’d pass on them.
Yeah Russ looks good playing in them. I haven’t watched every game since he debuted them, but it seems he hasn’t switched out of them yet. 2018 Men’s Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 2-Way Basketball Shoes Which to me says something, because he strikes me as the type of player to keep it real and shelve the shook if they’re not up to par… I gotta have ’em!

Jordan Brand Officially Unveils Russell Westbrook’s First Signature Sneaker The Jordan Why Not Zer0.1

With the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1, they had me at full-length Zoom Air.
While Russell Westbrook has had a signature off court sneaker, fans have been asking for an on-court sneaker for years. Finally, its going down just before All-Star Weekend.
“As a kid growing up in LA and standing in line to get other people’s shoes, you become aware of how fortunate you are to get sneakers,” Westbrook said in a statement. “To be able to sit here now and hold my own shoe is an honor.”
The Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 offers forefoot containment with a synthetic overlay atop a fused mesh upper. It also features a full-length Zoom Air unit and a compression-molded Phylon foam heel counter. Multi-directional herringbone is implemented and should offer the wearer good traction.
“My favorite part of the design process is storytelling,” said Westbrook in a statement. “Being able to tell my story through colorways and at different times during the season is a lot of fun.”

Will the Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 take over as the new go-to game shoe for Jordan Brand hoopers? It’ll be interesting to see if more consumers flock to this shoe as it’s price point is very fair .
Share your thoughts below in the comment section and stay tuned for an upcoming performance review.
These decisions further confuse me when I read that the retro Pro Strong has jack and is 140. For WHAT?!
They didn’t just have me at full length zoom air. They also had me at $125. Shoes look definitely futuristic.
2018 Men's Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 2-Way Basketball Shoes
Full length zoom? $125?.. “What the f***”… well, “Why not?” ?
Watch Riverdale
$125 for full lenght zoom air and a really cool design??? Time to quote Philip J Fry…shut up and take my money!!!
To quote Randy Jackson…”That’s a no for me dawg”
Just saw the YouTube video, thanks for the mention! To clarify, it’s the bottom loaded zoom and the price. Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Low Bred Black/Gym Red-Black On Sale 125 is great, but I can get some janoski Nikes for less with full length zoom. Just saying.
HANS GET THE FLAMMENWERFER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THESE ARE SO FIRE
I’m confused I thought Russ doesn’t like full-length Zoom set-up like the Jordan 31. Because it was not as flexible and these don’t look flexible. But for $125 if Russ doesn’t wear them I’ll still buy them.
aside from the flexibility, he didn’t like the wobbly feeling because of the protruded full length zoom, and he didn’t like the toe box on the 32. It would be bad if he doesn’t wear his own sig shoes.
Whole package has so much appeal. Can’t wait for the reviews to see how it pans out. A grey/black pair would be fire.
Big fan of Russ, would def get a pair when they black it out
It doesn’t bother me the bulky look, i kinda like it but the print is a bit off.
FIRE!!! Hope they perform well, otherwise these would sit on shelves
FIRE!!! Hope they’re excellent performers too, or they might just sit on shelves
Hmm interesting, with this whole season seeing Russ in the 28- 30 all having the same forefoot set up I’m surprised he’s going with this. I wonder how much he really plays in them since he doesn’t really even wear his 32 PE version. I like the Black and white colorway though and can’t wait for the review!
This could FINALLY be a shoe that actually fulfills my needs as a big man: lots of impact protection AND lots of support. D Rose line is the only one that really delivers that for an acceptable price, imho. -pac
Those look like ankle rollers, I hate shoes that have the narrow heel bottom with no outrigger. These also look bulky, heavy, clunky, not breathable and they also look like the Eddie Jones Swift 6’s.
looking at it, it does worry me since those narrow heel can be a real dealbreaker for getting these. too bad considering these could be the first “why nots” that I would actually buy despite not liking WestBrook and the stupid “why not” slogan, the logo looks dope though. anyway, aside from the narrow heel, it does seem like the upper could be made up of the old fuse material which I abandoned years ago. they just felt cheap and uncomfortable. The Vikings are just 1-5 against Chicago since Matt Nagy took over as head coach in 2018. But this has been by far Nagy’s toughest season, and there is plenty of speculation it will be his last one with the Bears.
The Bears are depleted. They have 14 players on the COVID-19 reserve list, including wide receiver Allen Robinson, safety Eddie Robinson and cornerback Jaylon Johnson, and among those out with injuries are linebacker Khalil Mack and left tackle Jason Peters.
The three players on Minnesota’s COVID list are all reserves in running back Alexander Mattison and wide receivers Dede Westbrook and Dan Chisena. The only player on their injury report is receiver Adam Thielen, who is questionable. He suffered a high left ankle sprain Dec. 5 at Detroit and sat out Dec. 9 against Pittsburgh.
Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Chaos University Red/Black Basketball Shoes
Against the Steelers, Dalvin Cook ran for 205 yards, and Minnesota held on for a 36-28 win after having led 29-0. The Vikings have had trouble holding leads throughout the season, and that was one of the main things they worked on during their extended time off before Monday’s game.

FOXBORO — Two weeks a year, he’s Stefon Diggs.
Last week, he was Michael Pittman Jr. And a few Sundays before that, he was A.J. Brown.
Meet Kristian Wilkerson, the Patriots’ top practice-squad wide receiver who might finally star as himself this weekend, if the team’s regular receiving corps can’t heal in time for kickoff against Buffalo. Veteran starters Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne both missed practice Wednesday. Backup N’Keal Harry was limited by the new hip injury that forced him out of last Saturday’s loss at Indianapolis.
Before practice, Pats coach Bill Belichick extended compliments to Wilkerson that usually reserved for dangerous opponents; the same players Wilkerson is usually simulating on the scout team.
“He’s improved in his route-running, his blocking, all things that go into being a receiver, catching the ball. He consistently shows up in practice. a guy we have trouble covering,” Belichick said. “Generally, depending on who we play, but generally speaking, he would play the other team’s best receiver. gets a lot of opportunities, gives us a good look on that.”
Wilkerson, the team’s leading receiver in the preseason, has taken only four offensive snaps since cutdown day, when he was released and re-signed to the practice squad. A late-arriving case of the drops in training camp thwarted Wilkerson’s case to be the Pats’ new No. 4 wide receiver. But now, at a rock-solid 6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, he would add a physical presence outside the team will miss if Bourne can’t play.
Bourne, who is vaccinated, must produce two negative tests and remain asymptomatic if he’s to return. If Bourne, Agholor and Harry all sit Sunday, the Patriots could also elevate seventh-round rookie Tre Nixon.
The young speedster, famously selected by former Patriots football research director Ernie Adams, is listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds. In late July, Nixon revealed he later ran into Adams who explained why he drafted him.
Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Chaos University Red/Black Basketball Shoes
“‘You’re a big guy, you’re smart, and you’re fast. That’s what we need to help us out,’” Nixon told reporters. “That’s kind of the way he drafts people and whatnot. He said it wasn’t anything big, anything crazy. Just do your best to go out there and show them what you can do.”
Over three months toiling on the practice squad, Nixon’s also earned high marks from Belichick.
“I’ve been really impressed with his work ethic. He does everything that we ask him to do and more. He’s improved quite a bit,” Belichick said. “ young player, still has a way to go, of course, but he’s working hard and has improved considerably.”
Though neither Wilkerson nor Nixon has caught an NFL pass yet. The Pats signed Wilkerson last September after the Titans released him as an undrafted free agent. He appeared in one game, a mid-November win over the Jets, and took just two offensive snaps.
Until his next game action, Wilkerson, like Nixon, will be known to outsiders only through public comments about their behind-the-scenes work.
“They work really hard and they put a lot of time and effort into it in the meeting room,” McDaniels said Tuesday. “They stay after and make sure that they’re ready to go on our stuff, even though neither one of them is currently on the active roster. But they are preparing as if they are, which is the right mindset to have.”
If the Patriots prefer to keep both wideouts on the practice squad, they should be plenty comfortable fielding multiple backs and/or tight ends versus the Bills. Three weeks ago, more than two-thirds of their offensive snaps featured at least two backs or tight ends in a run-focused, 14-10 win. The Pats averaged 4.8 yards per carry, including 4.7 yards on first down.
Overall, the Patriots rank among the league leaders in two-back personnel usage. And while the Bills’ pass defense is the NFL’s best by several metric, it’s weakest against pass-catching backs and tight ends.
So even when the Pats are seemingly knocked down, with Bourne, Agholor and their 81 combined catches for 1,117 yards and three touchdowns missing Wednesday, they’re still far from being knocked out.
FOXBORO — Bills coach Sean McDermott is not expecting another three-pass effort from Mac Jones this time out.
McDermott believes he’ll be seeing the rookie quarterback play a bigger role in the Patriots offense in Round 2.
And with Bill Belichick joking — we think — about what he hid from McDermott the first game, it’s possible McDermott is on to something.
“We can use our whole passing game. All the pass plays that we have, they haven’t seen,” Belichick teased the day after beating the Bills, 14-10, Jordan Why Not Zer0.1 Chaos University Red/Black Basketball Shoes in gusty conditions. “We can use all of them next time we play them. That game plan’s already been made.”
Sounds like the mind games have already begun.
That’s the beauty of running the ball 46 times, with just three pass attempts the first game. Even though the Patriots are sure to throw it more than three times, it still leaves a bit of mystery for what the Patriots can and will do to attack the Bills in Sunday’s pivotal AFC East matchup.
Plus, seeing an opponent twice, especially in games only a few weeks apart, naturally lends itself to a few surprises.
Former Patriots safety Rodney Harrison, an analyst for NBC Sports, believes offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will most certainly include Jones more, as McDermott expects, but the Bills will still be guessing what’s coming at them.
“Of course Mac Jones is going to be a bigger part of the game plan. That’s the cool part about it,” said Harrison, when reached Wednesday. “Buffalo still really doesn’t know what the Patriots are going to do offensively. Are they going to come out in three tight end sets, or come out in the empty set? Josh has done a good job being multiple with all of those formations.”
Harrison even suggested putting Jones in the no-huddle given how well he’s done in the two-minute drill. It’s an interesting thought.
“When Josh allows him to take control of the offense in the hurry-up, getting people in place, lining them up, that’s when he shows true ownership of the offense,” Harrison said of Jones. “Doing that forces Buffalo to have to match wits with you … there’s just so many levels of creativity Josh can continue to do to help Mac and the offense.”
Going no-huddle also makes it more difficult for defenses to disguise, not to mention blitz. Using an up-tempo attack out of the gate would have the Bills scrambling right away.
But cutting through the subterfuge for a minute, Belichick and McDaniels aren’t going to abandon their bread and butter, just to be different.
They’re still going to run whether in the hurry-up or not, and continue to do so until the Bills show they can make the Patriots stop. Make no mistake, the run game is still going to be a significant part of the plan.
If McDermott’s defense couldn’t stop the ground and pound Week 14, what makes anyone think they’ll be able to do so in Week 16?
It’s not like they can put any more people in the box than what they had during the 14-10 loss.
They already went to that well and the Patriots still made them pay.

Now, it’s fair to assume Jones will be more than Mr. Handoff in the upcoming game, but he’s not going to get into a shootout with Josh Allen if the Patriots can help it.
While the Patriots adjust the game plan from week to week for the opponent they’re playing, Belichick and McDaniels know what gives them the best chance to win against the Bills or anyone else.
And it’s not having Jones heave the ball 40 or 50 times.
It’s having him be efficient, and creating comfortable situations for him to throw, especially if teams have some success shutting down the run.
Like with the Colts last week, the Bills also know their best shot at leaving Foxboro with a win is stopping the run, getting a lead, and forcing Jones to beat them.
That’s why it would be a hoot to see McDaniels have Jones come out firing right away from the no-huddle, right from the first series.
Once again, that bit of mystery, not knowing what McDaniels has up his sleeve with respect to throwing the football, or attacking in general, is going to keep McDermott and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier up all week.
McDaniels said Tuesday he was going to start fresh with a clean sheet before devising the actual plan for Sunday. What happened in Week 14 will factor in, but there’s always room for improvement, not to mention surprise.
He called it playing “a chess game with yourself” describing how to tackle a defense the second time around, especially one that also doesn’t show the same thing in a subsequent meeting.
“I think the biggest mistake people can make is relaxing and not going through the preparation as if this is the first time we played them,” said McDaniels. “So I try to get myself into a mindset of, I don’t care what happened three weeks ago. I’m going back through and I’m studying the players, I’m studying the scheme, I’m studying the game plan and I’m going to try to make each decision based on what we feel this week, not three or four weeks ago … we’ll go in with a plan we feel good about.”
As Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin walked off the field Sunday after a 19-13 come-from-behind win over the Tennessee Titans, he looked at the camera and blew a kiss.
It was Tomlin’s way of saying the Steelers aren’t dead yet. No matter how many times they’re written off, they survive. Pittsburgh won’t die, no matter how old quarterback Ben Roethlisberger looks or how poorly its defense is playing.
It’s the same with the Ravens. Despite a slew of injuries to top players — including quarterback Lamar Jackson, the most explosive player in the NFL — the Ravens keep grinding, whether it’s against a top team like the Green Bay Packers or a struggling one like the Detroit Lions.
So there is a good chance that when the Ravens play Pittsburgh in Baltimore on Jan. 9 in the regular-season finale, it will be for the AFC North title. It seems to fit the script, especially as far as the Ravens are concerned. They like drama. They like suspense. They want to keep their fans living on the edge.
And what better way for this to play out than to have Roethlisberger — who is reportedly planning to retire — play the last regular-season game of his career against his archrival in Baltimore? The plot would have been better if it were in Pittsburgh, but now Big Ben becomes the villain. They make movies out of this type of stuff.
Ever since Baltimore re-entered the NFL for the 1996 season, the AFC North has evolved into a two-team race between the Steelers and the Ravens. Since 2002, Pittsburgh has won nine AFC North titles compared to six for Baltimore. The Bengals have won it four times, but they haven’t been a factor since coach Marvin Lewis left after the 2018 season.
Cincinnati is currently in first place in the division by virtue of its 41-17 win against the Ravens on Oct. 24. In that game, the Bengals dominated as quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 416 yards and two touchdowns. But it’s hard to buy into Cincinnati, which hosts the Ravens on Sunday. Despite having the least amount of injuries in the division and the most talent, the Bengals just aren’t tough.
Every time they appear to be ready to go on a significant roll and gain separation in the division, they lose to the New York Jets or the Chicago Bears. That shows a lack of mental toughness.
All three contenders in the AFC North have tough remaining schedules. After playing the Ravens, the Bengals finish with a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs and a road game against the Cleveland Browns . Pittsburgh travels to Kansas City and hosts Cleveland before closing out with the Ravens, while Baltimore hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Jan. 2 between games against the Bengals and Steelers.
The Bengals aren’t ready for this kind of grind, but Baltimore and Pittsburgh have been in this situation so many times. Those teams have tradition and championship trophies. Most importantly, they have standards, expectations and depth, which is why they’ve been able to keep winning regardless of circumstances.
The Ravens aren’t afraid to play the Bengals on Sunday. In fact, they want the rematch. Both the Steelers and the Ravens are reflective of their cities and their coaches. Both teams are from blue-collar, hard-working towns. A few years ago, before the Steelers ran onto the field up in Pittsburgh, Tomlin came down through the tunnel shadow boxing.
On Thanksgiving night in 2013, Tomlin tried to trip the Ravens’ Jacoby Jones on a kickoff return down the left sideline. If it had worked, it would have angered every fan in Baltimore, but instead it only added to the rivalry.
Few NFL coaches work officials harder on the sideline than the Ravens’ John Harbaugh, and he likes to gain his own advantages, too, even if it means bending the rules. In 2016, the Ravens were fined $500,000 for having a padded practice before training camp. In 2018, they were fined $200,000 for improper use of headset-equipped helmets by multiple players during games in the preseason.
That’s life in the NFL. As the old adage goes, if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying. In Baltimore and Pittsburgh, their mottos are the same: You might beat them, but you won’t outwork them.
That’s why it seems only fitting that the two teams play each other for the AFC North championship. Besides the rivalry itself, Roethlisberger will be playing his last regular-season game. The Steelers will play hard for the old man, much like they did in the second half earlier this year when they scored 17 fourth-quarter points to beat the Ravens, 20-19.
The Ravens will be at home. They’ve had to fight, scratch and scream all season to win games because of the injuries that would have trainwrecked the season for most teams. But that’s not who they are.
Forget Cleveland and Cincinnati. Bring on the Ravens, Steelers and Big Ben one more time.
It’s the perfect ending to a crazy season.
